Instruction
The Waichulis Studio is a private
educational resource located in Northeastern Pennsylvania to assist
aspiring artists in their pursuit of representationalism. Founded
by Anthony J. Waichulis, the Waichulis Studio focuses on the
essential fundamentals of draftsmanship, the anatomy of form, the
elements of perception, and various methods of painting. The
program focuses on principles applicable to all venues of the
realist endeavor including Still Life, Trompe L'oeil, Landscape,
Portrait and the Figure. Traditional materials are employed
throughout the training process focusing strictly on Charcoal and
Oil.
The curriculum of the studio is divided
into 5 sections: Governing the Material, Structures of Drawing and
the Anatomy of Form, Cast Drawing, Introduction to Painting, and
Advanced Painting Principles and Endgame.
On average, students can complete the
apprenticeship program in three years. However, the intimate
setting of the studio allows for the program to be tailored to fit
individual goals. Some areas of focus may be very time sensitive
(meticulous rendering techniques, etc.) and will increase the
length of the program. Prospective students must be willing to
attend full time and be extremely dedicated to completion of the
training.
The Waichulis Studio has a very intimate
and personal format, accepting no more than eight students at any
given time. We value this format as it allows for a great deal of
individual attention. The studio is open weekdays from 8:00 am to
8:00 pm.
It is recommended to notify The Waichulis
Studio of possible interest 1 to 2 years in advance, as there is
always a waiting list. All inquiries should be made to TWS@thewaichulisstudio.net.
Instruction at The Waichulis Studio is
